Delete Your Account

Applies to the Univibe app by Univibe Technologies Limited, Nairobi, Kenya.

This page explains how to request deletion of your Univibe account and the data associated with it. You can delete your account yourself, directly inside the app, or ask us to do it for you.

1. Delete your account in the app (fastest)

  1. Open the Univibe app and sign in.
  2. Tap Profile (bottom-right).
  3. Tap the Settings gear icon.
  4. Open Privacy & Security.
  5. Tap Delete Account and confirm.

Your account and content are hidden immediately (you are signed out everywhere), then permanently erased after 20 days. If you sign back in within those 20 days you can restore your account.

2. Request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app, email us from the address you signed up with:

[email protected] — subject: Delete my account.

We verify ownership and complete the deletion within 30 days. You do not need to give a reason.

3. What is deleted

Deleting your account removes the following data associated with your account:

  • Account details: name, email address, school/university, profile photo and bio.
  • Your content: posts, pulses, comments, direct messages, group messages and files you sent.
  • Listings and events you created, and your RSVPs.
  • Student verification documents (student ID photo and selfie).
  • Push notification tokens and notification preferences.

4. What is kept, and why

  • Report and abuse records: kept as long as necessary to keep the campus safe and to comply with legal obligations. These do not include your password or ID documents.
  • Anonymous crash and analytics data (via Sentry and PostHog): already collected, linked only to an anonymous ID, and cannot be traced back to you. It is not personal data.
  • Records we are legally required to retain under Kenyan law.

5. Retention period

Account: hidden immediately, permanently erased after 20 days. Email requests: processed within 30 days. Legal/safety records: retained only as long as the law requires, then deleted.

6. Delete some data without deleting your account

You can remove individual pieces of data yourself while keeping your account:

  • Delete your own posts, comments, listings and events in the app.
  • Edit or clear your profile photo, name and bio in Profile → Edit.
  • Email [email protected] to request deletion of specific data.
